Abstract

Starting from the physical model, basic equations are derived for the flow of the fluid, particle motion and changes in particle density along the radius. These equations enable the fluid-mechanical properties of fluidized systems to be described. The basic equations derived are applied to systems fluidized with a liquid, and equations are presented for the calculation of the inter-granular liquid flow rate, of the change in grain flow rate along the radius and the void fraction.
