Abstract

A large number of mathematical models for the dimensioning of rectifying column and the description of the process of rectification can be found in literature. However, all these models use the concept of plate or column efficiency. In the present paper, a mathematical model is proposed for the case of continuous and non-continuous rectification which, by application of the diffusion model, dispenses with the necessity of the knowledge of the efficiency. Numerical examples were elaborated for the illustrations were carried out by an electronic computer.
